We offer NJMVC approved Graduated Drivers License. If you’re at least 16 years old we’ll help you obtain your special learner’s permit!
Here is a general outline of the Graduated Driver License (GDL) program in New Jersey:
1. Getting a Special Learner’s Permit (Age 16):
- Eligibility: You must be at least 16 years old.
- Requirements:
- Pass the MVC’s knowledge test.
- Pass a vision test.
- Enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel driver training course.
- Restrictions:
- You can only drive with a supervising adult in the car.
- There are restrictions on driving hours.
2. Getting a Probationary License (Age 17):
- Eligibility: You must be at least 17 years old and have held a Special Learner’s Permit for at least six months.
- Requirements:
- Complete six hours of behind-the-wheel training with a driving instructor.
- Pass the MVC road test.
- Complete at least six months of supervised driving without any suspensions or postponements.
- License should be obtained from DMV
- List of approved documents for six point verification
- Passport Original – (Expired passport and copy of passport will not be accepted)
- Birth certificate original
- SSN Original
- ITIN number
- Proof of address under parent’s name
- Health Insurance Card
- Debit card with Student Name
- Restrictions:
- There are still restrictions on driving hours.
- You can only have one passenger unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
3. Getting a Basic Driver’s License (Age 18 and older):
- Eligibility: You must be at least 18 years old and have held a Probationary License for at least one year.
- Requirements:
- Complete the probationary period without any suspensions or postponements.
- Visit an MVC agency to upgrade to a basic driver’s license.
- License should be applied at DMV
- List of approved documents for six point verification
- Valid Passport Original
- Birth certificate Original
- SSN Original
- ITIN number
- Proof of address(Deed,PSEG,Bank statement,Property Tax Bill)
- Health Insurance
- Debit card
- No Restrictions:
- Once you obtain a basic driver’s license, you are no longer subject to the GDL restrictions.
